Assistant Vice-President and Chief Facilities Officer

I am pleased to present Facility Services 2022 to 2026 Strategic Plan.

The Facility Services department supports the academic mission of McMaster, its cutting-edge research, and world-class teaching and learning. Our team does this by developing innovative spaces to study, research, and work and by keeping our campus safe, clean, well-maintained, and beautiful. Our team of approximately 400 does this essential work both on our campus, that includes 55 buildings on 300-acres, but also on our multiple off-site locations, which includes 11 buildings.

I want to be sure that I thank the large number of people that contributed to the plan: The working group who helped develop the plan; everyone from Facility Services who provided thoughtful input, time, review and participated in photos; McMaster faculty members, students, and administrative leaders for providing considerate feedback; Facility Services leadership team and managers; and the
Kirwin Group for facilitating a collaborative planning process with our team.

We would like to especially acknowledge and thank our Steering Committee for their guidance while developing this collaborative plan.

For the Facility Services team: 

I want to thank the entire Facility Services department for your resilience, dedication, and commitment during the COVID-19 pandemic. Whether we are all together, physically distanced, or remote – we all have functioned amazingly well as one department.

On behalf of the leadership team, we hope this plan reflects the voices of our people and we hope hearing your voices in this plan continues to inspire you to make our department even better in future.
